Show News 2003
Well that's all the Shows for us for now. Unfortunately Douglas didn't qualify for Crufts 2004 :-( but he has matured a great deal in the last couple of months, bodied up well and just looks all grown up now. I'm confident that he will be back on tip top form for the 2004 Showing Season.
Mrs Jean Taylor's (Cleavehill) critique as printed in Dog World 21 November 2003, for the West of England Cocker Club Championship Show. AOC G (4) 1 De Carteret & Hartley's Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrinee, so nice to handle, liked his size, sweet head & expression, great depth, movement sound.
12 October 2003 - West of England Cocker Spaniel Club - Championship Show (Judge Mrs Jean Taylor) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee" won Graduate Dog Any Other Colour. This was our first such placing at a Championship Show and hopefully the start of many more. (Pics below).
28 September 2003 - Gundog Society of Wales - Championship Dog Show (Judge Mr F Whyte) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee") was in a very strong class of 14 dogs and was pulled out for a second look, although he wasn't in the cards I was very pleased with him being shortlisted in such a big class.
31 August 2003 - The Guernsey Dog Club Autumn Open Show (Judge Mr M Boswell) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee" was 2nd in Cocker Spaniel Open Dog and VHC in AV Gundog Open Dog out of a class of 8. This was his first time in Open Dog. "Bart" (Dunnfisheau Monsieur Blue at Derrindee" was 3rd in Cocker Spaniel Open Dog and was Best Locally Bred Gundog.
02 August 2003 - The Kennel Club of Jersey Summer Open Show (Judge Mr H Ogden) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee" won Cocker Spaniel Limit, Best of Breed, Gundog Group 3 and 1st in AV Gundog Limit. Picture below shows Douglas with the lovely trophy he was presented. "Bart" (Dunnfisheau Monsieur Blue at Derrindee) was 1st Cocker Spaniel Open Dog and 3rd in a very strong class of AV Gundog Open Dog.
Mr Mark Pooley's critique as printed in Our Dogs 04 July 2003 - OD 1 OD De Carteret & Hatley's Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee, 20 months, masculine head, well laid shoulders, nice expression, good neck, well boned legs, short deep body, strong loins, good musculation throughout, sound movement. BOB
14 June 2003 - The Kennel Club of Jersey Members Show (Judge Mr Mark Pooley) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee) won Cocker Spaniel Open Dog and Best of Breed.
Mrs June Minns' critique as printed in Dog World 30 May 2003 - OD 1 Dunnfisheau Monsieur Blue at Derrindee, b/r, attractive head, dark eye, strong dog, well bodied, moved OK.
03 May 2003 - The Kennel Club of Jersey Springer Open Show (Judge Mr Vic Cole) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee) won Cocker Spaniel Limit, 2nd in A.V. Special Yearling and was 1st in A.V. Limit. "Bart" (Dunnfisheau Monsieur Blue at Derrindee" was 2nd in Cocker Spaniel Open Dog and was 3rd in A.V. Open Dog.
13 April 2003 - The Guernsey Dog Club Spring Open Show (Judge Mrs June Minns) "Bart" (Dunnfisheau Monsieur Blue at Derrindee) won Cocker Spaniel Open Dog, AV Gundog Open Dog and Best Locally Bred Gundog. He really showed his little socks off today, I was so pleased with his results.
Mrs Betty Flavell's critique as printed in Dog World 28 March 2003 - Reserve Puppy of the Year De Carteret & Hatley's Cocker, Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee, lovely head, good stop, nice ears, well sprung ribs, level topline, nice cat-like feet, moved with drive.
Mr Jock Mackay's critique - Limit 1 De Carteret & Hatley’s Kyna Charlie Brown At Derrindee. Good for size and type. Well proportioned head, good width of chest and depth in body. Good boning, compact in make up. Moves true in front and drives from rear. (Best Junior in Show).
22 March 2003 - The Kennel Club of Jersey Winter Open Show (Judge Mrs Kay Carter-Simms) "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee) won Cocker Spaniel Limit, Best of Breed and Gundog Group 4. He was 2nd in AV Gundog Junior so didn't make the big ring this time. This was his last Show as a Junior.

15 February 2003 - Channel Island Puppy of the Year (Judge Mrs Betty Flavell) - "Douglas" was pulled out in the Gundog Puppy Class and then went on to take Reserve Puppy of the Year for 2002. I was absolutely delighted. He is pictured below with the wonderful trophy he won.
12 January 2003 - Guernsey Dog Club - Members Show (Judge Mr C Mackay) - "Douglas" (Kyna Charlie Brown at Derrindee) won Cocker Spaniel Limit Dog, AV Gundog Junior, AV Gundog under eighteen months. "Bart" (Dunnfisheau Monsieur Blue at Derrindee) was 2nd in Open Dog, 3rd AV Gundog Open Dog and Best Locally Bred Gundog. Under Mrs M Mackay "Douglas" was awarded Best Junior in Show and Reserve Best in Show under eighteen months. A great start to 2003 !!!
