Well we have had a really lovely year this year in the show ring, both Freddie and Alice have done really well - Alice qualifying for Crufts at her first outing, Freddie taking some lovely wins in the UK also, Oliver had a good start of the year but he has now retired due to his eyesight. I will really miss showing this boy as he is a real show off and loves being in the ring strutting his stuff. We are looking forward to the future though and the first litter of Derrindee Cockers in the not too distant future!! We will miss Douglas what a character he was, always in our thoughts especially when away in BIG Val. Best wishes to all our friends and visitors to the site.
13 December 2016 - Oliver's critique from Crufts - Veteran Dog - 2nd LYNTONRIDGE LOYALTY CARD AT DERRINDEE PDH (MISS D DE CARTERET) Another decent male with the required masculinity, Stands a little longer cast than 1. Well assembled with deep body, good legs and feet and moved well.
12 December 2016 - Well we made it to LKA and back just over 400 miles done not bad considering I haven't driven in the UK for around 3 years. It was fantastic to see my good friend Ginny Heaume qualify her first dog for Crufts. Her Clumber Spaniel Florence showed like a pro at her very first show and won her class!! Alice is a little short of furnishings at the moment so was unplaced. Apologies to everybody who I didn't get chance to say hello to. With recent events concerning a family members health socialising and mingling wasn't really on my agenda this year. Hopefully by Crufts I will be back to my usual self.
21 November 2016 - No show news for us at the moment but really looking forward to attending LKA with my good friend Ginny. Not long to go now just hope the weather cheers up and we don't have the horrendous storms that we are experiencing at the moment.
30 October 2016 - Guernsey Kennel Club Winter Open Show - Judge Mr David Foulds - Alice "Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee" - 1st Cocker Spaniel Limit Bitch, Best Limit Cocker, 2nd AV Gundog Junior, 1st AV BC Watson and Reserve BC Watson in Show. Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" - 1st Cocker Spaniel Open Dog, Best Opposite Sex (he was a little monkey and wouldn't standstill for Ginny today). Thank you for your help Ginny, always appreciated!! Just before Best in Show was awarded Oliver and I were presented with his Prix d'Honneur Certificate. I'm so proud of this boy he never lets me down. This was his last time in the show ring as his eyes are deteriorating quite quickly now. He has had a fantastic career 1 x RBPIS, 2 x BIS, 1 x RBIS, 2 x BVIS, 1 x RBVIS and his placings at Crufts!! It is with sadness that I'm retiring him as he loves strutting his stuff and showing off in the show ring but he is going out on a high!! Hopefully in the future there will be another English Springer Spaniel at Derrindee.
Critiques from Mr David Foulds

18 October 2016 - No show news for us at the moment our next show is The Guernsey Kennel Club Winter Open Show where be will be showing under David Foulds. Looking forward to getting the gang out again. There has been two birthdays - Alice was 1 on the 12 October and what a character she is, she never fails to put a smile on our faces with her antics. It would have been Douglas' 15th Birthday on the 8 October so a little saddness with not having the main man still here, but we are looking forward to the future and to the first litter of Derrindee Cocker Spaniels :-)
06 September 2016 - What a lovely surprise in the post today. Alice to my delight has qualified for the prestigous Cocker Spaniel Club Puppy Challenge!!
04 September 2016 - Guernsey Kennel Club Autumn Open Show - Judges Mrs S Thomson "Ashgate" - Alice won her puppy class, then Best Cocker Puppy and Best Cocker Bitch. Freddie won his open dog class and Best of Breed. Then Alice took Gundog Puppy Group 1 and qualified for Channel Islands Puppy of the Year 2017 and Freddie took Gundog Group 4. 16 August 2016 - Another lovely trip away to the UK attending a few shows and visiting the Northern Family. Our first show which was on Saturday 6 August was Paignton Championship Show under Mrs R Barney where Freddie was first in the ring in Limit dog and had a respectable VHC out of 8 and then Alice was next up in Puppy bitch and got a lovely 2nd. I had lots of lovely complements on both how fab Freddie was looking and Alice so that was really great. We then went up to Malvern, we love camping on this show ground and attended National Gundog on Sunday 7 August. The classes were huge and both Freddie and Alice showed their little hearts out but were not in the cards today. When we had finished showing we went up to Haydock to spend some quality time with Mick's family. On the Friday we travelled down to Surrey for the Hampshire & Sussex Cocker Spaniel Club's open show on Saturday 13 August - Alice was first in winning her class and a second in her other class. Freddie had a VHC in his first and a lovely second in his other class. We then travelled down to Poole for the Bournemouth Championship Show on Sunday 14 August - Freddie had a 3rd in Mid Limit dog and Alice had a 4th in Puppy bitch. A lovely day in the sunshine catching up with friends and managing to get Shel Cowles to take a few pictures of both Freddie and Alice which are FAB!!
Paignton Championship Show critique from Mrs R Barney - 2. De Carteret's Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee, good head & neck, good bend of stifle & short hocks, moved out well.
Hampshire & Sussex Cocker Spaniel Club Critiques:-
Mrs H Lockwood - Special Awards Classes: P 1 De Carterets' Kyna Slack Alice With Derrindee. Alone, but a good solid puppy bitch with kind eye, enough neck into well laid shoulders, short in body. When settled moved O.K.
Critique from Nicki Craig "Nicibec" - PB (3, 1) - 2 De Carteret's Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee. Another quality bitch, of lovely proportions. Feminie head with gorgeous melting expression. Moved soundly with correct bustle. Well presented.
Sp O (Not bred by Exhibitor) (2) 1 De Carteret's Bitcon Spy for Derrindee. Mature blue lad who has lots to admire. Masculine head, with tight dark eye and soft melting expression. Compact and cockery. Nothing overdone, just a well balanced lad; who is well put together.
19 July 2016 - Wow what a fantastic trip we had away. BIG classes at East of England Championship Show which was held on Sunday 10 July both Alice and Freddie showed very well though but unplaced. We then attended the Dukeries Gundog Club Open Show on Tuesday 12 July. Alice was 3rd in Puppy and Freddie was 2nd in Open behind the Best of Breed winner. We then had a break and spent sometime with Mick's family in Haydock. Alice had a makeover at Kyna HQ and looks absolutely stunning now!! We then travelled to Harrogate & District Canine Club's Open Show on Saturday 16 July. Alice was 2nd in Junior beaten by the Best of Breed winner and Best Puppy. She was a little fidget in the Group and was unplaced. Freddie showed very well and had a 2nd in his class. Lastly was the Evesham & District Open Show on Sunday 17 July. Alice won a nice Puppy Bitch class but was beaten by the Puppy Dog for Best Puppy. Freddie had a nice 2nd in his Open Dog Class. We then finished off the day by attending the Cocker Spaniel Club Championship Show. Alice had a 4th in AOC Puppy Bitch and moved beautifully, Freddie showed very well too but was unplaced in his Minor Limit Dog Class. It was lovely to catch up with so many friends on this roadtrip which took in some 1,200 miles!!! Will be doing it all again in a few weeks time too!!
Critique from Mr Russell Mosedale for Evesham & District Open Show - Puppy Bitch, Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee, b/roan, another lovely puppy in the making, good head portions, correct eye shape and colour, good reach of neck leading into well placed shoulders, strong bone, lovely spring of rib, short coupled, moderate bend of stifle, well-muscled, moved with good reach and drive.
24 June 2016 - Not much to report at the moment but we are very much looking forward to our trip to the UK on the 8 July. Looking forward to attending East of England Champ Show, Dukeries Gundog Club Open Show, Harrogate & District Open Show, The Cocker Spaniel Club Champ Show and Evesham & District Open Show and catching up with all our friends!! Visiting the family up North and hopefully Kyna HQ for some grooming tips. Going to be busy, busy, busy!!
03 June 2016 - Marvellous Marvin celebrates his 11th birthday today - Where has the time gone, he is still as naughty as ever, noisey as ever but so loving, we couldn't be without him.
15 May 2016 - The Guernsey Kennel Club Match - Judge Mr Kevin Cochrane - Alice "Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee" - won her puppy class and was later declared Reserve Best Puppy in Match with Best Puppy in Match going to a stunning Shih Tzu. Cockers - P (1) 1 De Carteret's Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee, 7 months, very pretty blue bitch, with a feminie head, strong neck, good body shape, correct topline & tailset with good hind angulation, shown & presented well, in reasonably good coat of correct texture, moved around the ring with some drive, holds topline well. PG1
OD - (3) 1 De Carteret's Bitcon Spy for Derrindee, very nice type, compact of medium size. Has a balanced head & dark eye, good earset, moderate stop, topline & tailset, with good legs, pasterns & feet. He has good width & depth of chest, with good underline, is short coupled & has sufficient width of second thigh, with good bend of stifle. He moved really well, with drive from good rear pasterns, an animated performance. BOB, G4.
English Springers (2) 1 De Carteret's Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee, 9 years male, excellent type, size & proportions, good outline, good head, balanced work in skull, moderate stop, correct earset & length, good strong neck, strong body, correct topline, strong loin, in good coat, good bone & feet, not quite the firmness in body of 2, but understandable at his age. Moved well. BOB, G3.
25 April 2016 - We are just back from a lovely although short trip to WELKS but it was so worth it. 22 April 2016 - WELKS Championship Dog Show - Cocker Spaniel Judge Mr Alf Wood "Marada" - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" was 2nd in his strong Limit Dog Class out of 10 with 3 absent and not to be outdone little Alice at 6 months and 10 days old was placed 2nd in her Minor Puppy Bitch Class and has qualified for Crufts 2017!!! She was the youngest in her class but showed her little socks off!! A BIG Thank you to our judge Mr Wood for his kindness when handling and going over the dogs.
Critiques from Mr Alf Wood "Marada"
LD 14 (4) - 2 De Carteret's Bitcon Spy for Derrindee. Short and cobby b/r true to type, pleasing head and expression, good spring of rib and short coupled, well muscled hind quarters and a sound mover.
MPB 4 - 2 De Carteret's Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee. Another b/r well made just needs to settle.
12 April 2016 - I don't know where the time has gone but little Alice is now 6 months old, her page is now live, with some show poses hopefully to follow. She has her first show on the 24 April we are attending WELKS Championship Dog Show and I can't wait to see how she gets on, hopefully all four feet on the ground :-)
02 April 2016 - The Kennel Club of Jersey Winter Championship Show - Judge Mrs Jill Peak "Bayard" - Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" won his open dog class and was Best Opposite Sex. Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee PdH" won his open dog class, Best of Breed and Gundog Group 3, not bad for an 8 1/2 year old :-) Freddie wasn't on form today but we were delighted that our good friends Lynn Ozanne and Pam Smith not only won Best of Breed with their Cocker Lexi, but also took the Gundog Group and 3rd Best in Show. They also won Puppy Group with their homebred boy Renzo and Reserve Best Puppy in Show and Best Brace in Show. A really lovely day for them!!

24 March 2016 - Nothing much to report show wise but we are off to Jersey next weekend which is always good, catching up with old friends, having a good laugh and a show thrown in. Exciting times coming though as Alice will be attending her first show - WELKS on the 22 April and then she will be going to Jersey for their Members Show on 7 May and then a Guernsey show on the 22 May. I can't wait to get her in the ring and see how she does!!
11 March 2016 - Crufts - English Springer Spaniel - Judge Mrs N Calvert "Calvdale" - Veteran Dog 4 (1) - Oliver was placed second in his class of 3 which I was really pleased with. As usual he didn't put a foot wrong and went around the ring like he owned it. This was Oliver's last UK show and last appearance at Crufts, he will still be shown in the Channel Islands though. A few photo's below of Me and My Boy :-) Cocker Spaniel dogs - Mrs B Critchley "Whipspan" - PostGraduate Dog 23 (1) - Freddie didn't put a foot wrong today moved really well and didn't fidget but was unplaced in this strong class.

22 February 2016 - It is with deepest sadness, a broken heart and endless tears that I have to tell all our friends that we said a tearful goodbye to our treasured Douglas last night. As many of you will know he was diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous tumour in December 2014. He has fought a very brave battle. He has had many ups and downs over the past year but always pulled through until last night when he was just telling us it was his time and as heart breaking as it was and to be honest still is we took our precious boy on his last journey. Now he is at peace pain free and running around with his big brother Sebastian. Until we meet again my Darling Sweet Douglas, what a character you were and what memories you have left us with. Forever in our hearts.

20 February 2016 - Oliver and I had a lovely trip to Jersey where he competed in Channel Islands Veteran of the Year. He absolutely showed his socks off and didn't put a foot wrong what more can I ask of him. We had a lovely time spending some good quality time with good friends. Roll on 1 April when we are back over again.
14 February 2016 - Guernsey Kennel Club Match - Judge David Turner - Oliver "Lyntonridge Loyalty Card at Derrindee PdH" won his Veteran class qualifying him for theSuper Match and was declared Best Veteran in Show. Freddie "Bitcon Spy for Derrindee" won his Group Winners class qualifying him for the Super Match and then went on to take Best in Match to my absolutle surprise. BIG thank you to our Judge David Turner for thinking so highly of Freddie and to Debbie Ingrouille for the photos. Congratulations to Sammie and her gorgeous Shih Tzu Cody on Reserve Best in Match.
To all our family and friends I hope 2016 is a good one for each and everyone of you!! I can't wait to get little Alice in the ring in April she will hopefully be attending WELKS so that's something to look forward to. Oliver has qualified for Channel Islands Veteran of the Year which is the 20 February and then we have an Open Show on the 28 February before Crufts on the 11 March. So lots to look forward to. Look forward to catching up with friends very soon.
