What a lovely year I have had showing my little team this year.  Freddie has continued to do well taking many BoB's, Group placings and Best Veteran in Show.  Highlights being taking BoB and Gundog Group 2 under Frank Kane in August with Alice taking Best Bitch.  Frank Kane was full of praise for Freddie who turned 7 the next day, he pushed very hard for the Group.  Freddie's second show as a Veteran and he took Best Veteran in Show qualfying for Channel Islands Veteran of the Year which is held in February in Jersey.  He then followed this up by taking the Group, qualifying for Dog of the Year, 3rd Best in Show and Best Veteran in Show!!  Alice has won some good classes with some BoB's and Group placings and gained her Stud Book No which is lifetime Crufts qualification!!  Little Norah took a little longer to mature and is now really looking the part, we have one more try to qualify for Crufts at Manchester Champ Show in January, fingers tightly crossed.  She has qualified for Channel Islands Puppy of the Year so will be accompanying Freddie in February.  The year has been touched by sadness with the sudden loss of Marvin in February after a very show illness and also the loss of Oliver to Lymphoma in October, both missed very deeply and forever in my heart!!

09 November 2019 - Kennel Club of Jersey November Open Show - Judge Mr R Kinsley - Norah 1st Cocker Spaniel Puppy, Best Cocker Spaniel Puppy and Gundog Puppy Group 2, Freddie 1st Cocker Spaniel Open Dog, Best of Breed, Gundog Group 1, 1st AV Gundog Veteran, 3rd Best in Show and Best Veteran in Show!!! Woo hoo go Freddie!!  I was absolutely gobsmacked that not only did Freddie take the Group qualifying him for Channel Islands Dog of the Year but that he was 3rd Best in Show and another Best Veteran in Show!!!  Alice was 3rd in Open Bitch.

13 October - 2019 - West of England Cocker Spaniel Club - Championship Show - Judge Mr K Costello (Dogs) and Mrs G Pearce-Gudger (Bitches) - Freddie 2nd Any Colour Veteran.  Alice 2nd in Any Colour Open Bitch which has gained Alice her Stud Book Number and lifetime qualification for Crufts.  Little Norah showed very well but was a baby in her Minor Puppy Class and was unplaced.  We had a really lovely day catching up with friends.

Critique from Mrs G Pearce-Gudger - 2nd De Carteret’s Kyna Slack Alice With Derrindee blue roan with dark feminine head of good proportions, dark tight rimmed eyes and square muzzle, short in neck and slightly heavier on shoulders than 1, good forechest and uppearm, substantial boned legs with neat feet, deep ribbed short coupled body with rear quarters of good muscle tone and angulation, well coated and presented, moved well.

Critique from Mr K Costello - 2nd De Carteret’s Bitcon Spy for Derrindee, smaller type, very short, good neck and shoulders, nice coat, moved ok

09 October 2019 - A very sad day for us today as we had to say goodbye to Oliver.  He had been my constant companion for nearly 12 years.  We had such a wonderful time together, he was a one in a million dog and will be greatly missed.  Rest in peace my darling boy until we meet again over the rainbow bridge.

08 September 2019 - Richmond Championship Dog Show - Judge Mr Leslie Forfar (Glasedin) - Freddie 2nd Veteran Dog.  Alice Reserve Open Bitch.

Critique from Mr L Forfar - 2nd De Carteret’s Bitcon Spy for Derindee. B/R built on finer lines all though. Appropriate reach of neck in to well laid shoulders. Well developed quarters enabling him to move with the desired reach and drive.  Could not match the overall quality of 1.

01 September 2019 - The Guernsey Kennel Club Autumn Open Show - Judges Mrs R Barney "Verrami" - Freddie 1st Cocker Spaniel Open Dog and Best of Breed, nothing in the Group today as Fred was bored.  Alice was 3rd in Open Bitch.

Critique from Mrs R Barney - Cocker Spaniel OD (1) De Carteret's Bitcon Spy for Derrindee, good headed lad, lovely legs & feet, carrying a little bit too much weight, good angles fore & aft, a little short in neck but moved out well both ways & in pofile. BOB.

17 August 2019 - The Kennel Club of Jersey Summer Championship Show - Judge Mr Frank Kane - Freddie 1st Cocker Spaniel Open Dog, Best of Breed, Gundog Group 2 and the Jersey RCC.  Alice 1st Cocker Spaniel Open Bitch and Best Bitch.  What an honour to show under Frank Kane again and for Freddie to do so well under him 7 years on from when he last judged him in Jersey.  Freddie really showed well and pushed the Group 1 winner hard.  Huge congratulations to my travelling buddy Jodie Trebert for taking Group 1 and the Jersey CC with her Spanish Water Dog Seve!!  He powered around the ring and did not disappoint going 3rd Best in Show.  Thanks also to Mark Evans and Ginny Heaume for the lovely photos taken at the Show and also a thanks to my other travelling buddies Jo Mauger and Yvonne Wilkinson for all the laughs.

Critiques from Frank Kane

Cocker Spaniel OD (3, 0) 2 very good blue - 1 De Carteret Bitcon Spy for Derrindee top quality 7 years blue. Very cockery. Scores in head and eye. Is carrying maximum weight which just told against him in the group competition. BOB & Grp 2.

Cocker Spaniel OB (6, 0) Really good class - 1 De Carteret Kyna Slack Alice with Derrindee 4 years blue. Very cockery and excellent mover. Scored in front action. Good head but I’d prefer a darker eye.

Moved out with animation and total soundness.

20 February 2019 - A very sad day for us all when we had to say goodbye to Marvin this morning.  After a very short illness he took a turn for the worse and the kindest thing to do although very heartbreaking for us was to let him go and suffer no more.  He was a cheeky, naught but lovable old boy and we miss him deeply.  Sleep tight Marvin until we all meet again xxx
